What was once the famous, architecturally imposing former home of Telegraph newspapers in London has now made a full transformation into a modern media hub. As part of the redevelopment, connectivity infrastructure-as-a-service provider Freshwave is bringing all-operator mobile connectivity to the new Peterborough Court.
Built in the 1880s and located in the old heart of the UK’s newspaper industry, Fleet Street, and still popularly known as the Telegraph Building, Peterborough Court has undergone a complete redevelopment to create high-spec grade A office space while retaining its art deco façade.
The office space spans more than 300,000 sq ft across 11 floors and has stated aim of having a focus on wellbeing through the creation of outdoor spaces, on-site amenities and “state-of-the-art end-of-trip” facilities. It has terraces on four floors and boasts panoramic views of London. Peterborough Court’s sustainability credentials include a WiredScore Platinum rating, a target BREEAM “Excellent” or better rating, and an all-electric design that is said to reduce significantly whole life carbon.
Also high among the key features of the space are “diverse telecoms intake rooms and diverse risers”. Advanced communications is an essential element of the building and, in this regard, Freshwave believes that mobile connectivity is no longer an add-on for commercial buildings.
Working with commercial property IT and smart building infrastructure specialists TCM, Freshwave has deployed its small cell Omni Network with all the mobile network operators throughout the landlord areas.
The firms regard Peterborough Court as an prime example of how digital infrastructure is becoming a defining feature of premium commercial real estate. Connectivity was treated as a core building service from the outset, ensuring occupiers benefit from what is claimed to be reliable, high-performance mobile coverage alongside the wider smart building infrastructure.
Tenants are able to opt into extending the service to their workspaces through a pay-as-you-occupy model, with Freshwave providing support through their ongoing managed service.
